Electro-Harmonix Ram’s Head Big Muff Pi Fuzz Pedal
$114.30
THE MID 70’S CLASSIC IS BACK!
Since the early to mid-1970s, the Electro-Harmonix Ram’s Head Big Muff has been a staple on the pedalboards of notable guitarists. It has a string separation that distinguishes it from other Big Muffs of a similar ilk and a somewhat more articulate sound than most Big Muffs. A 9-volt power input and an LED status indicator have been added to the Ram’s Head Big Muff for pedalboard compatibility. The legendary V2 sound of vintage Ram’s Head Muffs can cost quite a bit of money on the secondary market, but guitarists can now have access to it for a more affordable price.
In the 1970s, David Gilmour utilized it to great success on solos, while in the 1990s, self-proclaimed Big Muff expert J Mascis used a Ram’s Head Big Muff to create his distinctive sound. The Electro-Harmonix Ram’s Head Big Muff has been a standard since its introduction thanks to its smooth-yet-aggressive response that makes solos sing and chords roar.
Many Big Muffs have been produced throughout the years, and among fans of fuzz, some of them have earned nicknames. For instance, the Triangle Big Muff is a reference to the original Big Muff and gets its name from the original’s knob design. What makes this item known as the “Ram’s Head Big Muff”? It all boils down to that tiny emblem in the corner, though. The curly-headed creature in the corner is the real inspiration for this iteration of the Big Muff, regardless of how much it resembles a ram or what it truly is.
