The JHS Angry Charlie V3 channel drive pedal transforms your guitar amp into a sonic flamethrower by faithfully recreating the iconic Marshall JCM800. The Angry Charlie has the rich bass response, thick mids, and balanced high end you’d expect from a hot-rodded Marshall, making it simple to conjure British high-gain tones. In creating the Angry Charlie, JHS meticulously modeled a complete Marshall-style tone stack. The tone settings on the Angry Charlie function as cuts or boosts when turned in either direction. At noon, they are flat. The JHS Angry Charlie V3 channel drive pedal is unquestionably a powerhouse.
Turn the Drive control down, and you might be surprised how bluesy and vintage-like this pedal sounds. But through its different versions, the JHS Angry Charlie distortion has always been one of the more aggressive British amp-in-a-box pedals out there. Either way, you’ll be injecting your amp with the grit and attitude of the UK amplifier heads that gave rock ‘n’ roll its teeth.
JHS provided us with a precisely tuned Marshall-style 3-band EQ after a few really well-received iterations of the Angry Charlie because they realized that in order to fully capture the ultimate Marshall-style tone, they had to add a Marshall-style tone stack. Enjoy!
