The Remo Clear Controlled Sound Drumheads with Black Dot have a black dot on the topside that improves focus and assault while preserving a pleasant level of sustain. This drumhead provides a bright, rich sound that projects well and is long-lasting. The Controlled Sound Clear is ideal for toms or as a batter head for the snare drum.
A single ply of 10 mil film, along with a 5 mil top center control dot, are used to create the Remo Clear Controlled Sound Drumheads with Black Dot. These drumheads will provide a good cutting projection and are the brightest in the Controlled Sound line. A nice sustain is provided by the narrower single ply structure, which also allows for outstanding responsiveness. These drumheads may be pounded harder and for a longer period of time thanks to the 5 mil center control dot, which prevents overtones from getting out of hand.
If you want a tom with a clear, rich, and projecting sound that doesn’t have too many overtones, the Remo Controlled Sound Clear is a great option. If you don’t want to use brushes, these drumheads work nicely as the batter head for snare drums as well. They offer a nice cutting projection, a medium sustain, and the center dot controls the ringing.
Because of the central dot, the Controlled Sound Clear will provide somewhat less sustain as a resonant tom drumhead than a typical 10mil resonant head. If you want to maintain some sustain but prevent the ringing from becoming too loud, this is helpful.
