The Remo Emperor Coated’s sound is excellent for medium-volume musical genres and studio recording. Under studio microphones, the modest sustain and somewhat controlled overtones will sound good. If things get noisy, this drumhead can also withstand hard bashing. However, it should be noted that the warmer sound could get a little lost in the mix in really loud live conditions (especially without microphones on the drums).
