A 3 mil single-ply resonant snare drum head called Remo Hazy Ambassador Snare-side Drumheads. For most snare side heads, this thickness is considered “standard.” It’s probably a 3mil drumhead if you’re replacing the one that came with your snare. The ideal thickness for snare wires is often 3 mil since it allows for good snare wire response and sensitivity while also giving the sound considerable depth and body. The Remo Ambassador Snare Side is the ideal all-purpose resonant snare drum head as a result. This drumhead has sufficient depth to cut through at greater volumes while still being responsive enough to be used at lesser volumes. The Ambassador Hazy Snare Side also performs admirably for general studio recording.
Semi-translucent “hazy” film gives this resonant drumhead a pleasant appearance and somewhat boosts the warmer end of the sound spectrum. The resultant audio has a pleasing blend of high, mid, and low frequencies. In contrast, the sound of the Ambassador Clear Snare Side drumhead is a little bit brighter. Each stroke has an open tone because to the modest sustain provided by the 3mil ply (although less open than thinner snare side heads). Snare definition and reaction are clear when using brushes as well as drumsticks.
NOTE:This resonant snare drum head should be used on the snare drum’s resonant side, which is the bottom. Because of the extremely thin ply, do not use this as a batter (top) head. It will damage very easily.
The Remo Ambassador Snare Side is distinct from the Remo Ambassador in general. Because it is substantially thinner, the Ambassador Snare Side is solely intended to be used as a resonant drumhead. Regular Ambassador drumheads are 10 mil thick, making them inappropriate for use as resonant snare drumheads. On other drums, the normal 10mil Ambassador can be used as a batter or resonant head.
