Overview
Our string instructors offer violin lessons and cello lessons that cover a wide range of musical styles, including classical, folk, pop, jazz, and fiddle. While the violin and cello are traditionally associated with orchestral and folk music, our teachers bring versatility to every lesson, allowing students to explore multiple genres and play the music they love. Each week, students work on key technical skills such as bow control, sound quality, posture, and intonation. At the same time, they incorporate favorite songs into their violin or cello lessons to stay engaged and inspired. Our experienced string instructors are passionate about supporting every student’s musical journey—whether they’re just beginning violin or cello lessons or looking to refine their technique and take their playing to the next level.

What styles of string lessons do you teach?
We teach all styles from classical, rock, pop, jazz, country, and blues. We teach violin lessons, viola lessons, cello lessons, and even upright bass lessons.
How qualified are your string instructors?
Our teachers come from diverse backgrounds, including degreed musicians, session/gigging musicians, and teachers pursuing their own continuing musical education. What will I learn from string lessons at the Stage 1 Music?
Our students spend time each week working on technical skills to improve their sound quality and intonation, but also have their favorite songs incorporated into the lessons so they finish with their favorite piece. Our violin, viola, cello, and upright bass teachers, through their care and expertise, will certainly nurture any student’s love of the instrument.
Absolutely! Twice a year we have student recitals and the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. Unlike some other schools, we do not charge students a fee to perform. Students are encouraged to invite all of their family and friends. See the video below of our string ensemble from our last recital!
