The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T  is an updated version of the original Revstar series of guitars with enhanced comfort and stunning aesthetics! Two rich and warm sounding VP5 pickups are installed in this maple-topped double-lightweight cut’s chambered mahogany body to provide classic P-90 tones, ranging from pure jazz textures on the neck pickup to wild overdriven leads on the bridge. Because the neck is made of carbon-reinforced mahogany, it will remain straight and true under the most trying conditions. Also, Yamaha has added their unique “focus” switch to this Revstar, which alters the resonance frequency of your tone and amplifies the strength of your pickup. The utilitarian British Café racer motorcycles seen in 1960s London are credited with inspiring the Revstar’s curved lines and classic aesthetics, giving these svelte guitars a rugged no-frills attitude. Using Yamaha’s Acoustic Design methodology, a special double-cut chambered body was created in order to optimize the Revstar’s balance, produce a resonant tone, and shed weight. According to us, every guitarist’s collection should have a guitar equipped with P-90 single-coil pickups. With the girth and low-mid richness of a humbucker, you get the snap and spank of a single-coil pickup. Alnico V magnets, a silver baseplate, and plain enamel wire are used in the specially made VP5 P-90 pickups in the RSS02T to produce a crisp, vintage-inspired tone with lots of bite. Using simply the volume knob, you can switch the RSS02T from clean and chiming to blazing overdrive when your tube amplifier is set at its breakup point.

The “Dry” switch from Yamaha’s Revstar range already introduced us to their clarity-enhancing “Dry” switch, and the Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T adds the “Focus” switch as another distinctive tonal characteristic to stand out from the competition. This push-pull switch’s dual functions are to increase power and change the resonance frequency of your guitar’s tone. It’s an immensely versatile function that is equally effective at producing “rolled off” jazz tones as it is at pushing your amp into overdrive.
